Our change of plans -- 1/25/09

Our original stated purpose was, and still is, to write a book that will explain (1) money, (2) the money supply, (3) economics and (4) banking to the American public and government officials.

The plan to achieve that purpose was (1) to study everything we could find on those four interrelated subjects, (2) write the book based on the information we found through the study and (3) include recommendations in the book to improve the banking and monetary systems in the United States.

We basically completed that plan and the book this last week -- but immediately realized that it was absolutely foolish to write a plan that was based on the recent and existing banking and monetary systems which have proven to be disasters -- as explained by David Brooks in the 1/16/09 edition of the NY Times where he essentially argued that commonly accepted economic theory is simply not capable of understanding the problem. This is what he wrote (we are paraphrasing slightly):

“This (theory) explains a lot, but not the current financial crisis — how so many people could be so stupid, incompetent and self-destructive all at once. ...” See C- 19

We then realized (duh!) that it made way more sense to use the information we uncovered in our study to create new ideas rather than rehash the existing system which has proven to be dysfunctional (both the system and the rehashing). Such rehashing is basically what has been going on lately by our government and the media. It has been very unproductive.

We now ask you to review our ideas and follow Buddha’s dictum -- “Believe nothing, no matter where you read it, or who said it, no matter if I have said it, unless it agrees with your own reason and your own common sense.” / Buddha.

If our ideas comport with your reason and common sense, we ask you to encourage us and help spread those ideas.
